There is no greater gift than the unwavering support of friends during life's trials. For me, this support has come from my extraordinary women friends — kindred spirits who have faced similar challenges in love and health. These remarkable women, scattered across the globe, have not only enriched my life but have also inspired and deepened the meaning behind my art.
My Voices of Women Series was born from this shared spirit of rebellion and reverence. It draws inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood — 19th-century artists who defied the conventions of the Royal Academy. In my own way, I am also a rebel, crossing the traditional boundaries of photography. By printing my images on canvas and enhancing them with oil paint, I break free from the constraints of conventional photography, merging it with the expressive depth of painting.
This series also reflects a broader philosophical stance. In many ancient civilizations, the feminine principle was not something to be feared but revered. As Eckhart Tolle observes in A New Earth:
"The suppression of the feminine principle, especially over the past two thousand years, has enabled the ego to gain absolute supremacy in the collective human psyche... The female form... has greater openness and sensitivity toward other life forms and is more attuned to the natural world."
These ideas, deeply rooted in the wisdom of ancient cultures, guide my creative process.
The same spirit of connection and support extended to my Art Mural project. My friends from New York, California, London, Montreal, Italy, and Greece embraced the opportunity to represent my murals in their own regions. Their belief in my work — and in the power of art to transform spaces and perspectives — remains a profound source of strength and gratitude.
